Hi,
when using corporate directory search we have 3 fields on the phone: First Name, Last Name and Number. Is it possible to use another field for search, for example Department?

just saw another similar post to this one, not sure if it's also yours but if you want to do that you would need to customize the xml to provide that functionality, you can try on the ip phone services for end users.
you may also reach the DEV team with Cisco or with another company that provides this services

The thing is we do not want to use phone services, because then there will be 2 corporate directories on the phone. One with 'Department' field (via services button) and other without it (Corporate directory option). Isn't there any way to extend the corporate directory (without creating a custom phone service)?

you posted this under Unified Communications Applications, what i meant was to look help on the IP Phone services for end users so someone can help you on how to modify the directory.
not that you had to create a service for the directory
the options that are presented are in an xml or jsp (has changed between versions) file that is returned by the server, you can have more search options after pressing corporate directory or have several directories when pressing the directories button. but all of those require modification of the xml or jsp files
if you go to the enterprise parameters you will see the directories URL, when you push the button you request that.
within Cisco that is known as custom directories, and are not supported by TAC. you need DEV team for support on that or as i mentioned to reach for a 3rd party company
