CSunity Voicename file

We're running Unity with Domino and we've noticed that some users have an attachment in their lotus person document call "Csunity Voicemail". Can someone explain to me what this file does? We're trying to figure out why some users would have this file and some wouldn't.

Re: CSunity Voicename file

I think you may have meant "csunity voicename" instead of "csunity voicemail". If that's the case, then I may have an answer for you.

Although I have not been able to locate documentation explicitly detailing what the "csunity voicename" value is, based on knowledge of how Unity interacts with Active Directory for Exchange deployments, this is almost certainly the recorded voicename for that Unity subscriber.

Although having the voicename stored in the directory as opposed to only on the Unity server is more appropriate to a Digital Networking implementation, the synch occurs between Unity and its directory anyway.

This document covers AD/Exchange (see table 1, "msExchRecordedName" as an analogous entry to what I believe you are seeing in your Domino directory):

This document covers Digital Networking for Unity partnered with Domino:

If some subscribers have a recorded voicename and others do not, that would explain why the file appears for some subscribers and not others.

To test this theory, you could select a subscriber that does not have a file and record a voicename for that user, synch the database with Unity, then check to see if

a file now exists where none existed before.

I hope this helps.

Re: CSunity Voicename file

Yep, that was it.

When users record their name, the file is saved in their person document as "csunity voicename". This explains why the file exists for some users and not others.

Thanks for the response!

Re: CSunity Voicename file

Does anyone know how to remove the CSUnity Voicename from within Domino for a particular user?

We have a user who mistakingly got deleted, person Doc and mailfile. We restored both items from backup, but now Unity sort of recognizes the user and sort of doesn't. Meaning, when I try to add the user to Unity, she doesn't show up as a user who can be added. And when I dial the ext. number to get to her voicemail, it says the extension is invalid. I'm wondering if Unity looks to see if this file is present. If it is, then it may think that it can't add the person because she already has a voicemail account.
