Hello,
I have a doubt about alternate extensions, if i have an extesion that is an alternate extension for other Phone.
If this phone that is an alternative extension has voice mail when i call to see the voice messages how can i select what voicemail box to access?

Hi Leonardo,
Hope all is well buddy!
A DN/Extension can't be both an Alternate Extension and a Standard
mailbox. It's an either/or situation.
So if I'm an Alternate extension 7777 under your voicemail box @ 7456
then all messages would always end up in the 7456 mailbox
I hope this makes sense.
Cheers!

So the extension to be alternate extension cannot be an standard voicemailbox.
Thanks.

Any extension in UCXN needs to be unique, so if you assign extension 1000 in partition_A to a mailbox as the mailbox extension, then this extension can not be assigned to anything else including this user's or another user's alternate extension. Also, if you assign an extension as alternate extension you will not be able to assign the same extension as primary mailbox extension on any user.
What is your specific requirmetns that leads you to this dilemma?

The client want to share a voicemail with a members of hunt pilot.
I think the distribution list will be the better option for this case.

Hi Leonardo,
Here is another option that does leverage the Alternate extension config
and leaves the existing voicemail accounts on the Line group member
phones intact and unaffected
This would require the use of a spare line button on the Line Group member
phones. In this example the Hunt Pilot is DN 5000 and the Line group members
are 2444 & 2111. On the phones 2444 & 2111 add a new key with the number
2355 with a label of Group Mailbox. Create a new voicemail account for 2355
and record the Day/Night greetings you desire.
**Make the Hunt Pilot DN 5000 an Alternate Extension on 2355**
So the Hunt Pilot number is 5000 and the mailbox you want to use is 2355. Set the Hunt Pilot to
Forward (CFNA/CFB) to the Unity Connection Pilot # .When the call routes through to Unity Connection
via the Hunt Pilot No Answer Unity Connection should see the CLID of 5000
which will then be connected to the Mailbox on 2355.
You can also tweak the settings on 2444 & 2111 so any message left on the Hunt Pilot
designated mailbox @ 2355 will light the RED lamp so the Line group members have
a proper visual notification.
Cheers!

I have a 7911 IP Phone.
I will try in the service parameter
When a caller leaves a message in a mailbox, the voice-messaging system sends a message-waiting indication to the party that received the voice message. Similarly, when the owner of a voice mailbox deletes all pending voice messages, the voice-messaging system sends a messaging-waiting indication off to inform the voice-mailbox owner that no more messages are pending.
Cisco Unified Communications Manager enables administrators to configure how to turn on the handset indicator of Cisco Unified IP Phones 7940 and 7960 for pending voice messages. "
Service Parameter Configuration (for the Cisco CallManager service)—Use the Message Waiting Lamp Policy clusterwide service parameter to set the message-waiting indication policy for all Cisco Unified IP Phones of the 7900 series.
Thanks

Hi Leonardo,
You won't find that option on the DN page for a 7911 as
it is a "Single Line" phone. It's only shown for secondary
lines on Multi-Button phones like a 7962 for example
If you are using 7911's the option I provided won't be applicable
as it did leverage a secondary line button on a Multi-Button style model.
Cheers!
Rob
