CUCM Integration with Unity Connection (Auto-attendant configuration)

Dear All,

I have no hands-on experience about Unity Connection. I am newbie to this application.

I have two questions. The first one is about CUCM Integration with Unity Connection. I'd like to make use of Unity Connection so as to provide my customers with a basic auto-atttendant feature. At the end of the day, unity connection and CUCM should allow users to route calls to desired extension or to the operator making use of the auto-attendant feature. Could you please be so kind to share some links or documents which describe this basic configuration.

The second one is about Unity Connection licensing. Since i will not use voicemail ports for each user, do i have to offer additional user license (if yes, how many) so as to provide my customer with 16 simultaneous auto-attendant feature?

Ahmet,

To add to good stuff from Manish (+5 ); For Licensing there are two ways u can get licenses.

1. Go with UCL licensing and order Unity Connection sperate and get either UNITYCN9-STD-USR or UNITYCN9-ENH-USR.

UNITYCN9-ENH-USR : Enahnced  users as Manish said will give you all the basic voicemail features  (voicemail ports, auto-attendant functionality) and a standby mailbox at  branch site for all the users for which licenses are ordered.

You  can additonally get Speechview standardand professional for 1 year  subscription to do the "speech to text" conversion for voicemails on  your email.

2. Go with either CUWL-STD or CUWL-PRO. Both include Enhanced messaging and lot more.

Now  with Cisco phasing out the MCS, the voicemil ports are no more based on  the hardware its actually the Virtual machine for UCXN deployment.  Refer to the table 5 for more details.

Hi Ahmet,

You can refer the following link for "Managing Call Handlers in Cisco Unity Connection 8.x"

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/docs/voice_ip_comm/connection/8x/administration/guide/8xcucsag060.html#wp1051005

You may also find more posts on supportforums regarding the same topic.

Regarding Unity Connection licensing:

All user functions are offered under a single, low-cost "Basic Messaging" user license that can be used for either voicemail or integrated messaging or unified messaging.

With version 9.1, there is now an "Enhanced Messaging" user license that includes all the Basic Messaging user functions plus the ability to configure a standby mailbox at a branch office as part of a Survivable Remote Site Voicemail (SRSV) deployment.

Unity Connection ports enable Auto Attendant feature and the number of available ports  depends on hardware platform used.

You can check with the licensing team for more details.
