CUPC Username in CUCM, UPC<User ID>

Hi, I am installing a system with CUCM 7.1, CUPS 7.0, Unity 7.1 fully integrated into Microsoft AD and Exchange 2007. I have some test accounts which all work but the customers AD alias all contain a '.'

When I try to add these to CUCM the '.' is not supported in the device name so UPCJOHN.S will not be allowed. Not sure where to go from here. Any help much appreciated.

If you're on CUPS 7.0.4, it'll allow you omit the ".". For example, John.Doe's device would be UPCJOHNDOE.
