Difference between 'Cisco Unity' and 'Cisco Unity Connection'?

Hi, can you please help me understanding functionalities difference between 'Cisco Unity' and 'Cisco Unity Connection'? I have the 'Cisco Unity Connection' with 50 port license, but it doesn't work with 'Cisco Unity'. Please guide me accordingly.

Re: Difference between 'Cisco Unity' and 'Cisco Unity Connection

Unity Connection is a different product than Unity. Each require their own unique licensing and can't be used interchangably.

Unity Connection is designed for smaller deployments and consists of an "on-box" message store and doesn't use Exchange or Domino mail stores. Unity Connection on Windows version stopped at version 1.2(1). Unity Connection on Unix is still being released, which is now at version 7.0.

Unity requires Exchange or Domino as the mail store and typically is used for larger deployments.

Hope this helps. If so, please rate.

Hi Brad, Thanks for your reply. I have the Cisco Unity Connection 1.2 DiskSet with 50 port license with me, also have MCS 7845, HP version. But i'm missing of the 'Cisco Unity Platform Configuration Disk', how can I get that? FYI, I have a disk named 'Cisco Unity-System AS'. Is it compatible with Unity Connection?

Randy,

The architectural change from windows to Linux was indeed introduced in Connection release 2.0.
