Dupe Unity Accounts/Dist Lists, and Hiding Unity Accounts

After a recent upgrade from Unity 4 to 5 we have duplicate accounts in AD:

All Subscribers- domain-UNITY allsubscribers@domain.com

All Subscribers- domain-UNITY allsubscribers2@domain.com

(also with System Event Messages and Unaddressed Messages)

which should/can we delete?

Also, can we hide all Unity accounts (UnityInstall, UnityAdmin, UnityDirSvc, etc.) from the address book?

Thanks in advance,

Brian

How did you upgrade Unity? DiRT, COBRAS, GSM and there are other ways?

Randy

Per the upgrade guide ... 4.x DiRT with OS replacement to 2003, then the upgrade to 5.

As far as the duplicate accounts... the allsubscribers groups will each have a unique System ID attached to it in the display name. This System ID correlates to the Unity server's ID that it belongs to. In order to find out what account is the correct one to match the upgrade do the following:

Tools Depot>Diagnostic Tools>Data Link Explorer and scroll down to UnitySetupParameters table and choose the @SystemId value column. There you'll see the upgraded Unity server's ID and you can get rid of the accounts referencing the old system ID.

Something to keep in mind is that if AD contains multiple Unity server installations, deleting the incorrect ones which may belong to a different Unity server will cause problems for that server. You won't have to worry about that if you've only got a single Unity server.

Hope this helps,

Brad

As far as hiding the Unity accounts from the address book, just remove the mailboxes associated with these accounts. They don't require mailboxes and people therefore wouldn't be able to deliver e-mail to them.

Hope this helps,

Brad

Thanks, on both items ... much appreciated.
