Exchange server offline everyday

our system is a Unified Message System,Unity server pointing to 7 or 6 Exchange servers. every day after 5pm, each exchange server goes offline and back online for syn mailbox . question:1 is this initiated by Exchange or by Unity? what's the reason of doing this? 2 is there a way we can change the time of the server offline, it seems a little bit early, users may call during this time. thanks

no one has experienced the samething? probably then it is not a Unity thing, it is exchange config.

Unity doesn't do this.

I think that some Exchange backup software packages dismount each message store while it's being backed up. You should find out if your Exchange backup regime gets executed at 5PM, and think about rescheduling it if it is.
