It sounds like Unity Connect supports the G.722 codec, but Unity 7.X does not. Is this true? Does anyone have experience with running G.722 with Unity or Unity Connect? Could support for G.722 be in the 8.X release?
That is physical port capacity, yes...but since you pay for physical ports - it's a big hit on capacity. You can buy as many ports as you want but if you can only effectively use 1/2 then that's a big consideration. I do not believe Unity supports G.722 as it is a bit different in port setup and configuration vs. Unity Connection.
Hi "C" (is it Chris?? I'm sorry I can't remember )
Here are a couple of references to add to the great tips from Hailey (+5 Hailey-Man)
Note Use of the G.722 or iLBC codec as line codecs or advertised codecs reduces the number of voice ports that can be provisioned on the Cisco Unity Connection server. For more information on the number of voice ports supported for each platform overlay when using G.722 or iLBC codecs.722
G.722 and Internet Low Bandwidth Codec (iLBC) codecs decrease the maximum number of ports supported by 50 percent for platform overlay 1 and the co-resident configuration. For platform overlay 2, the maximum number of ports supported is 36. For platform overlay 3, the maximum number of ports supported is 48.
