How do I keep people from dialing a vm port#

In all of our offices we have 6 digit dialing set up and none of them start with the # for the voicemail ports which are 4 digit, but we still seem to have people calling directly to the port# which results in failover. Would I have to put them in their own partition and calling search space or just different partition?

You would need to put the VM ports in a separate partition and assign a calling search space to the VM pilot number that has access to this partition. The CSS for phones would not have access to the partition assigned to the ports.

Hope this helps.

Here are the guides that explain how to accomplish what Brandon's talking about:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/unity/5x/integration/cucm_sccp/guide/cuintcucmskinny080.html

Choose whichever version of CUCM/CCM you're integrating Unity with from the left hand side menu.
