IIS keeps hanging Call Manager 4.2

I have an issue where the customer is using Call manager 4.2 with win2k service pack 4. the W3 service has been hanging now a couple of times. When you go into the services to restart the service, the iis service doesn't appear in the list of services, the only work around is to reboot the whole server, obviously this is not ideal. Anyone else ever come across this?
