Installation VCS Control and Expressway vmware tools

I noticed after deploying these appliances, vmware tools were not installed.

is it possible to install vmwasre tools on them?

I need vmware tools because our nimble storage backups reply on vmware tools for nightly snapshots

They should show as Running (3rd party/independent)

I do see them yes as showing 3rd party installed/managed; however the versioning is very unusual and not a known vmware version number.

Is it possible to upgrade them?

if yes, how?

if no, will this ever be allowed? and if no why not?

Those vmtools on most TP apps are considered 3rd party and independent, the updated for them will be included in the tar.gz file for the app upgrade.

It is not recommended to try to upgrade them any other way, each VCS version ships with the compatible vmtools that are compatible with the ESXi versions that are supported for each app.

If you want to further discuss this, you'd need to do so via your SE/AM so they can engage someone from the BU.
