Is it possible to make a Unity Voicemail Only Solution Redundant?

Hi everyone,

Wonder if you can help? I've read the CCO instructions on making a Unity UM solution redundant. But how would you do this with an (on-box) Voicemail Only solution?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Stuart

Yes its very much possible. You have to install Unity (primary and failover) in two servers and message store has to be separate. (3rd server).

Sankar,

Was that a subtle hint?

So in summary, it cannot be performed as an on-box vm-only solution - the message store has to be separate?

Thanks,

Stuart

Stuart,

It makes perfect sense to have it installed off box, in case one Unity VM server fails, you will still have the other server capable of reaching the mailstore which is off box. I have never done a VM only failover server, but reading a few lines from the book "Cisco Unity Fundamentals"

Page 180, Chapter 7.

"When you are configuring Cisco Unity failover, you must always install the message store off box on a separate systekm to make sure that messages are available even if one of the Cisco Unity systems becomes unavailable."
