License upload

One of our client was given the following license file for their callmanager.

INCREMENT PHONE_UNIT cisco 5.0 permanent uncounted \

    VENDOR_STRING=<Count>10</

Count><OrigMacId>c8773cecf68e</OrigMacId><LicMacId>00XXXXXXXX</LicMacId><LicFileVersion>2.0</LicFileVersion> \
     HOSTID=001f291351a8 OVERDRAFT=1 \
    NOTICE="<LicFileID>20120611131735255</LicFileID><LicLineID>1</LicLineID> \
    <PAK>1156J5644A9</PAK>" SIGN="0C30 8866 520D CF24 CB18 1C50 \
     1E43 F822 2E74 5B3A EB61 F562 152F 1CCD 700A 1D31 3816 427D \
    B7BA 5C14 8AF0 783B A108 7FF3 76B5 7C3C 5971 924D 5C76 A120"

They  are running callmanager version 7 and the license file did not make any  difference to the license count when they uploaded it.

My questions are:

does the above file correspond to callmanager version 5 license file?
can you use this on callmanager version 7?

Thanks

Hi there,

I agree with my friend Jonathan that the 5.0 SW_FEATURE is what is wrong with this

picture +5 J-Man! You cannot use a 5.x file on a 7.x build.

Here is a copy of a 7.x Lab license. Please note, that this was used on a MCS not VM build ;

This license has been issued for a VMware installation using license MACs that apply to 8.x releases. You will need to get the MAC address of NIC 0 on your publisher MCS server and email licensing@cisco.com to have it rehosted. Be sure to point out that this is an MCS, not a virtualized install.

Hi Jonathan,

Thanks for replying but how can you tell this is a vmware install?  The original lic file is as below.  The above was modified by me ...

INCREMENT PHONE_UNIT cisco 5.0 permanent uncounted \

    VENDOR_STRING=10001F291351A8001F291351A82.0 \

    HOSTID=001f291351a8 OVERDRAFT=1 \

    NOTICE="201206111317352551 \

    B7BA 5C14 8AF0 783B A108 7FF3 76B5 7C3C 5971 924D 5C76 A120"

Its the same mac all the way through.

what does cisco 5.0 mean? does that mean its for version 5 only?  can it not be used on version 7?

Thanks in advance.

The 5.0 is a reference to when DLU enforcement began: CUCM 5.0(1) and isn't relevent to this discussion. The version number only applies to the SW_FEATURE line. As long as the cluster has a LIC file somewhere that shows this, all other LIC files installed are enabled for 7.x releases.

INCREMENT SW_FEATURE cisco 7.0 permanent uncounted

If memory serves, the inclusion of these two bullets implies a VMware-encoded license:

001F291351A82.0 \

There was a checkbox on SWIFT when you activated the PAK asking if this is for a VMware installation. I believe it adds these two fields (which you can't remove since it would invalidate the signature). If you're confident that the MAC is correct and you have tried restarting the Cisco License Manager service (on Network Services page) to no avail then you should open a TAC SR.
