Linux OS not starting on server - Couldn’t find matching filesystem

Hi all,

I have two call manager servers, that have been upgraded from version 4 (on windows) to version 5 (on Linux).

The upgrade took place two years ago. Last week, the following problem was encountered on the publisher during booting (after a power failure):

Couldn’t find matching filesystem: LABEL=/common
Give root password for maintenance
(or type control-D for normal startup)

At the Control-D, the system boots and gets back to the same error.

Does anyone have an idea how can I solve this problem?

Thank you.

Re: Linux OS not starting on server - Couldn’t find matching f

This is a common issue if the system was not gracefully shutdown (such as a power failure).

You may use the Recovery CD to fix the file system.  Recovery CD can be downloaded from CCO:

http://tools.cisco.com/support/downloads/go/ImageList.x?relVer=7.1%283a%29&mdfid=282421166&sftType=Unified+Communications+Manager+Recovery+Software&optPlat=&nodecount=2&edesignator=null&modelName=Cisco+Unified+Communications+Manager+Version+7.1&treeM...

If you're running Linux version of CUCM, it's recommended to use the highest version of the Recovery CD.  (not necessarily match your CUCM version).

Hope this helps!

Re: Linux OS not starting on server - Couldn’t find matching f

Hi,

Thank you for the link. I will download it now.

Some Linux forums told me to use the Linux CD (But it was a migration CD from version 4 on Windows to version 5 on Linux). I have people now looking for the migration CD. But I guess your link is better because it's a Linux Recovery.

I'll keep you posted if this works.

Thanks!

Best Regards,

Mazen!
