Lync 2013 federation

Hi need some advise on IMP federation with Lync 2013.

Customer has a domain eu.xyz.com

Their IMP server's are in a SIP domain of xyz.com.

they have a static route in IMP to legacy LCS server with a pattern of .xyz.com to LCS destination address (using TLS).

They now need to do a federation to a Lync 2013 system which is within their parent organisation which is in xyz.com .

is this possible as an inter domain fed or should it be intra domain?  or is it not possible at all due to existing LCS federation ?

TIA...jag

If the SIP domain for IM/P and Lync 2013 are the same, then it will be an intradomain federation. Intradomain federation with Lync 2013 is supported however Cisco labels this as a migration solution rather than a long term solution. You might have to look and see how many users are on the Lync/IM&P and the load it puts on the server.
