Manual backup (non failover) Unity

I have a customer with two sites in the US.

They want to have one main unity server at site A. And also build an exact replica and physically put it at site B.

Same AD and Exchange server.

Same Unity server name, different IP address/subnet.

The idea is that if site A gets hits by a natural disaster, they can manually bring up the unity at site B.

So far this sounds possible. I wanted to see if anyone out there know of any complication with such a setup.

Any feedback is apprecaited.

Thanks

Majid

Re: Manual backup (non failover) Unity

You could either build this as a failover server or build the server, remove it from the network, and have it waiting. AD is not going to let you have 2 computer accounts with the same name, but that should not be a problem. Also, you would need to keep the Unity version of the standby server up to date with the version of the production server. If disaster were to strike, you could take a recent DiRT backup and restore to the standby server.

Hope this helps.
