Matching the MAC address of a Unity license file

Hello,

We're migrating a Unity 4.2 install to new hardware (with a newer OS). The new hardware supports NIC teaming with a user-specified MAC address.

Is it easier to just change the MAC address of the new hardware to match the old server and keep the same license files, or are we better off going through licensing@cisco.com to get all 24 files modified? :/

Any advice appreciated. Thanks!

Mark

Mark,

You'll need to get your license files re-hosted to the new MAC address through licensing.

Thanks for the reply. The question I'm trying to ask is actually this...

Is there a problem setting the MAC address of the new Unity server to match the MAC address of the old one, and use the same license files?

The new server allows has a configurable MAC address.

I'm hoping to hear that someone has done this (at least in 4.2) and that it worked fine. :)

Thanks again

Mark

Mark,

This may work but is not Cisco supported. The supported procedure is to obtain a re-hosted license file from the licensing team for the new MAC.

Brad

Fair enough. Thanks for the quick follow up.
