We are going to be installing Unity on a 7845 server. The client wants to use Windows 2003 instead of 2000. I understand the hardware prep CD takes care of a lot of things behind the scenes that we will need to recreate for the 2003 environment. Is there a place that has a checklist of everything the hardware prep CD takes care of?
i've built a few unity servers without the hardware preparation CD.
steps i used:
1) prepare the hardware & RAID as required
2) install windows 2000 or 2003
3) install windows latest SR
4) install windows critical hotfixes
5) install exchange 2000 or 2003
6) install exchange critical hotfixes
7) install SQL 2000
8) install SQL 2000 SR4 (or 3a will work)
9) install SQL critical hotfixes
10) install unity
i do not have a list of CD Prep steps that are performed and cannot find any on CCO to share with you.
i've performed many unity installs and have not found any problems NOT using the Prep CD. (customer lost master CDs and got replaced with unity CDs without Prep CD, so i had to build these without it and no problems were encountered due to not having the prep CD)
