MPX conference bridge config in CCM

Hi all,

I'm planning to configure MPX resource as conference bridge in a CCM MRGL with the software conferences of each node in the CCM cluster. CCM CFBs will be sollicited first according to the MRGL. However, CCM CFB does not support G.729 (only G.711) whereas MPX Conf bridge does. I'm wondering, when a caller starts an Ahdoc conference with other users in the same region (using G.711) and at a certain point of time, he adds a user in a diffrent Region configured to use G.729, does the conference drops or the MPX resource is used starting from that moment? If yes, are the CCM bridges used in the same time than the MPX CFB or the CCM bridges are released and MPX CFB is used instead? Does this mean that a conference could be based only on 1 CFB at most?

best regards,

Ramzi,

* A example of a situation where two conference bridges may be used is where a participant in one conference conferences in a participant in a seperate conference.

* Once a conference bridge has the maximum number of participants, additional participants may not be added. No new bridge would be automatically added.

Regards,

Michael.

Ramzi,

The attempt to add a participant using G.729 would fail, and they would not be able to join the conference. The bridge already in use will persist for the duration of the conference and will not be changed on account of the a new participant with a G.729 stream.

You can workaround this by making sure the CCM CFB has access to a transcoder resource. The transcoder would be invoked so that the G.729 media stream would terminate on the transcoder resource and then be transcoded to G.711 before joining the bridge. Just make sure region configuration enforces G.711 between the conference bridge and the transcoder.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Michael.

Hi,

Thank you for response.

When the CCM CFB is not anymore sufficient to handle the increasing number of a G.711 conference participants, is the following configured CFB in the MRGL, used in addition to accept more participants or not? in other words, could a single conference be handled by 2 CFB in the same time to meet the requirements of the cofn in terms of number of participants.

best regards,
