Msg store config failure

we are installing Unity UM 404 with a e2k3 partner server, sp1. While running the mailstore config wizard when we select the mailstores and partner exchange server we get the following error:

'cisco unity has not been properly installed - failed getting container for new objects in domain xxyy.com'.

We have checked rights and all seem appropriate. Unity_servername account exists in sql but not in AD.

We have an existing system partnering the same server and using the same accounts which is working ok so we can assume the rights are ok.

We have tried reinstalling exchange admin tools and e2k3 sp1 but still get error. WE can telnet to exchange server using ports 389 and 445 and this is ok.

Checked registry and the partner server is correct. DAD tool won't run to check rights as I assume its because Unity is not up (we do have a tick in the tray icon though). We don't have much in the app log , only event 1003 error.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Re: Msg store config failure

You are going to have to post the event logs. Event 1003 can mean many things and can be populated by any number of services.

Did you use a domain admin account to run permission wizard? Did you use the latest permission wizard?

Did you use unity install account to install Unity?

Are you sure that UnityDirSvc account has rights to modifiy or create objects? (the clue is in Unity_servername account not existing in AD).

We will need the complete exchange and unity app and sys logs to look further.

Re: Msg store config failure

Hi Hin

we are checking the rights using the document below:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps2237/products_installation_guide_chapter09186a0080150814.html

is it not the install account that needs the create access rights where new objects are created ? - the customer is not allowing the DIRSVC account create rights as we are only importing. Is that OK or should both accounts have create rights ?

Thanks for your help........ JS
