MWI Issue with Mitel Superset phones

Got a fairly new setup of Unity 5.0 with Mitel SX-200 through digital PIMGs. Having problems with Mitel digital supersets where if they hit the message button, it screws up mwi in Unity. Any new messages from there on will not turn mwi on that phone and subscriber shows mwi request failed. However, when you dial the voicemail pilot number directly from that same phone, mwi works fine. i don't know mitel enough to know how the phones are setup and think that the message button might potentially be doing some redirects or masking that messes up what number Unity thinks it's hitting but can't say for sure. Anyone had a similar issue by chance and what fixed it?
