MWI with UM 4.0.4

Unity 4.04 with UM - Most users are ok with default behavior whereby VM

left will create MWI unless outlook clients download the wav file into

their end user mailbox which turns off MWI.

However, we have some certain users (i.e. HR) which prefer to listen to

VM on phone due to sensitive info and not via their PC's speakers so

want MWI to remain lit despite the wave file being download to their

mailbox... so MWI works normally as once it is download from E3k to

the user inbox, I am assuming Unity only looks at exchange inbox and not

the user inbox which would make mwi inactive.

This is only for convenience for certain users who want to listen to

messages on the phone. Again to summarize below:

users can still use tui but mwi will be off which the users percieve

incorrectly so still inconvenient

headphones on PCs would be fine but inconvenient.

Is there a better solution whereby mwi remains on after the wav file is

download to their client inbox?

If you use the Microsoft Exchange option instead of POP when setting up Outlook, the Outlook inbox and the TUI will both reflect the actual state of the message.

Hi -

Another option for your "sensitive" content users is to create voicemail only accounts. Create a separate inbox for these users that will store voice messages only. You can create a subscriber template that disables TTS/CiscoPCA and hides the account once imported into Unity. You would also want to remove the option to used Deleted Items folder as the user will not see this folder using only the phone. As Brandon mentioned, as long as the messages are kept server-side, i.e. not downloaded to Outlook, the MWI will stay lit until the user checks voicemail from the TUI interface.
