OVA Template for CUCM Lab license

Hello,

We just bought a CUCM Lab license and I read that I need to use Cisco OVA template for CUCM VM installation. However the OVA file is available to download if I have it under contract.. is that correct? Do I need to get maintenance contract for my LAB licnese to be able to download the CUCM OVA file?? Or is there any other way I can install the LAB license.

You don't say what version of CUCM you have but looking at your previous posts you might have 7.1

I don't beleive this is officialy surported under VMWare so there is no ova template.

It will run under Workstation I have not tried ESXi. Create your own template. 80Gig drive, 1 vCPU, 2Gig RAM.

When 7.1 boots under Workstation it stops and says WMWare is not a supported platform, click continue to boot.

All the UCM versions from 6.1 to 8.6 work OK for a lab, just create your own template.

Thanks for the response. I have CUCM 8.0 Lab license and I will be installing it on ESXi 5.0 (trial version provided by VMWARE). So as per you post above I should be good if i create my own template and don't really need Cisco OVA, correct?

HI

For LAB purpose you can create your own configuration for virtual machine. Just remember the requirements for that release mentioned in below link. Based on number of users you can create the VM.

To create a new virtual Machine I would use

Configuration: Typical

Name and Location: UCM80

Datastore:

Guest Operating System: Linux/Red Hat Enterprise 4(32-bit)

Create a Disk: 80 GB (For a LAB I would also select "Allocate and commit space on Demand")

Then Edit your settings to 2048 MB of RAM and 1 CPUs

Also make sure you disable the LRO in the ESXi, see this link for details.

After you have installed UCM8.0 you will probably need to update VMWare Tools
