PerfDisk errors in eventlog - Unity 4.2 on HP platform

This is Unity 4.2 VM only on MCS 7845 HP platform

It is logging PerfDisk errors saying that counters have been disabled for the disks.

I have made no changes to OS perfmon settings, the OS was loaded from the Cisco platform DVD.

I have 2 servers loaded and they both have the same problem.

Thanks in advance.

Re: PerfDisk errors in eventlog - Unity 4.2 on HP platform

Hi Scott -

You should be able to go to a command prompt on the Unity server and run diskperf -y to reenable the disk performance counters. This will require a reboot though. If you run just diskperf, it will show the other available switches, including the current status. When you press Enter, the following code appears:

Disk performance counters on this system are currently set to start at boot.

DISKPERF [-Y[E] : -N] [\\computername]

-Y[E]

Sets the system to start disk performance counters when the system is restarted.

E

Enables the disk performance counters used for measuring performance

of the physical drives in striped disk set when the system is

restarted.

Specify -Y without the E to restore the normal disk performance

counters.

-N

Sets the system disable disk performance counters when the system is

restarted.

\\computername

Is the name of the computer you want to see or set disk performance

counter use. I've never used the platform CD/DVD, always installed the OS myself, so I don't know if there is a problem there. I didn't find anything on Cisco related to having these counters disabled as far as Unity goes.
