Prerequisites for Cisco Directory Connector

We recommend that you install Cisco Directory Connector and Active Directory Domain Service/Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services (AD DS/AD LDS) on separate machines.

As I understand that let me explain: Customer will install new separate server then it will activate    Active Directory Domain Service/Active Directory

Lightweight Directory Services (AD DS/AD LDS)  services ?

What i need to do exactly ?

Thank you so much for posting this; we just encountered this problem. We already have multiple AD LDS instances in our forest but the directory connector does not present any options during or after installation. We tried it on a server already running the role, on multiple domains, no difference.
