Remote Destination / Mobility Identity

This may be a dumb question, but I'm sure someone here will have an answer. We have users who are actively using the Jabber / Cisco Mobile apps on their cells. The iPhone side works great with the built-in VPN, but we have an issue with the lack of a good VPN on the Android side. Because of that, we have some users asking if they can have the Remote Destination function working when Jabber is not.

For example, a user has the Jabber app running on our corporate wireless, but has to go offsite for a meeting. The user still wants any calls to his desk phone to ring to the cell, even if the Jabber app has no connection. Is this something we can setup? The users know the calls will be answered on their mobile numbers and not their desk lines without the Jabber app connected, their main concern is to make sure if the desk number is called they get the call.

We're running a CUCM 8.x environment, newest version of the Jabber app. Any and all info is much appreciated!

Sure. Just attach a remote destination to the Jabber device in CUCM (there is a link halfway download the page). Do NOT choose a mobile identity, you want a remote destination. You will need to delete the remote destination profile for that user first if you've created one; the Jabber device takes the place of the RDP. The behavior will be that when there is an active registration from the Jabber client calls will ring through on the VoIP side. When the registration times out (remember your timers in the SIP profile) CUCM will offer calls to the remote destination instead.
