Removing Message Notification Options from Unity

Unity 4.1.1 with UM:

Unity offers a wide variety of notification devices; there's something like 10 different options of phone, text pager, home phone, etc, etc. I'd like to restrict the choices to just a few.

How can I remove SMS (SMPP), Phone 6, Phone 7, Phone 8 and all the rest that are deemed superfluous?

as an aside, the phone conversation only exposes 4 of those (home, work, pager, spare) - you have to use the web client to get at the rest.

For the web clients, there's currently no provision for specifying which and how many notification devices users have access to - you can restrict which numbers they're allowed to use for phone based devices using the restriction tables on the user's COS but you can't remove notification devices from the list.
