Storing Attachements on Unity & Only notify outlook

We have a client that wants to know if it is possible to store all messages on the Unity box and only notify outlook when they have received the message .

Dont send attachment.

I have told them it is not possible as the the "partner server" exchange 2000

Is where the messages are stored. And Unity will only keep copy if the Exchange server is down.

Is there any way to not send attachments from Unity to clients outlook. Only send the text header ..

Re: Storing Attachements on Unity & Only notify outlook

There is an option in Outlook to download only headers. It's under Tools -> Options -> Mail Setup -> Send Receive -> Edit. The issus is that this would be a global setting, not just for Unity messages. Another option is that Unity Connection stores messages in SQL on the connection server as opposed to Exchange on a partner server.

Hope this helps. If so, please rate the post.

Another option is you can setup VM mailboxes seperately and use the Unity Inbox (web based inbox) and send HTML links via email to their Exchange mailboxes for inbox notification when a message arrives. When you click on the link it'll open the Unity web based inbox to that voice mail message. This way voice mails are not stored in their exiting Exchange accounts at all, they're stored in VM only mailboxes you create (presumably on a dedicated Exchange mailstore seperate from the corporate exchange install).

You can read more about inbox notification in the admin guide here:
