Unified CallConnector Question

If I'm going to use the Unified CallConnector with CME in personal mode (software only installed on the clients, no server-side CallConnector software), do the client PCs need to be directly connected to the associated Cisco IP Phone that they will control (physically plugged into the PC port on the phone), or does this only need to be IP connectivity to the phone?

I've seen documentation that seems to indicate that IP connectivity only is ok, but I need to verify this.

IP connectivity is all you need.
