A company purchased another company who currently has Unity 3.1(6) in an AD domain integrated to Exchange 2000. The parent company is now deploying IPT. The company with Unity 3.1(6) will not be upgrading til next year. Will deploying Unity 4.0(5) for the parent company in the same AD domain/exchange org cause any issues? They are not looking to network these Unity servers together. Are there any precausions I should take to make sure there aren't any issues?

You can add Unity 4.0(5) to the existing w2k domain/exch 2k, unity 3.1(6). You will have to extend the schema so that Unity 4.0(5) will work but the schema extensions are backwards compatible.

Cool. yeah, the schema has been extended. I was just scared that they would try to "network" together and cause issues. thanks

If they tried to use digital-networking, it'll be all right.

Networking in Cisco Unity Guide (With Microsoft Exchange), Release 4.0(5)

The Cisco Unity servers that are networked together can be any combination of Cisco Unity servers, version 3.1(2) or later. Note, however, that to take advantage of new features introduced in Cisco Unity 4.0(3) and 4.0(4), all of the Cisco Unity servers must be running the version in which the feature was introduced (or a later version).
