Thank you Brad, My 4.0 Unity is "linked" \ partnered with MS Exchange, in terms of, via Unity I add users by selecting "import from exixting Exchange user"..so this means my vm's are stored in Exchange mailboxes?....then If I disable windows account can i at least play msgs from my physical 7940 phone or not? just not via outlook?
Yes, mail is always stored on the mail store (either MS Exchange or Lotus Domino, in your case MS Exchange). You shouldn't need to disable any accounts, I'm not sure what you're trying to accomplish. But, yes, once you import the Users into Unity, they will be able to listen to their voice mail over the phone.
ok and sure, now what if that user windows account get disabled or even deleted, could they listen to the voicemail via the 7940 phone. I realize they couldn't play vm from Outlook client (account disabled) but could they use the "messages" button on 7940 and listen there or since acct is disabled this wouldnt work either? some people are retiring etc and are thru with e-mail network access, etc but need the phone \ vm for a few more days
Unity requires a user account/mailbox in order to store messages. If this mailbox gets deleted, then Unity will not work as it will not have anywhere to store the messages anymore. Unity requires that the user exists in AD and has a mailbox. If you simply disable the user from being able to access emails via outlook, that may or may not affect Unity functionality, I haven't tested that myself.
Ok and thank you. We were not deleting mailboxes, just disabling the Windows account. You happen to have a good article link or briefly could you say where the setting(s) that partner Unity to Exchange. I am not changing anything just want a high level view of if I didnt have exchange or lotus, etc. where are the vm stored then. Then once integrated with a enterprise e-mail where the partnership is formed, is Unity told to send to exchange server, in other words what is the order of events, caller leaves vm, next, next, next, etc Do you happen to have this high level flow of events ..just high level not detailed
These are the paths to get to each CCX logs through CLI. They may be helpful if you are having issues accessing RTMT or downloading logs through it.
