Unity - 4.1(1) AD Schema Extension Problem

TAC:

Trying to install Unity into a new AD forest.

Root Domain: root.abc

Resource Domain: abc12.us

Both Windows 2003 Domains

Unity is installed and a member of abc12.us. I cannot get the schema extension to run from any number of scenarios:

1) Logged into schema admin account on root domain

1a) Tried from Unity Box

1b) Tried from Schema Master itself

2) Logged into schema admin account on resource domain

2a) Tried from Unity Box

2b) Tried from Schema Master itself

When run from the Schema Admin itself, I get the following error:

Setup failed to initialize Active Directory.

Please verify the following:

1) That your network connection is active

2) That active directory services are running

3) That you are logged on to the Schema Master

4) That you are a member of the Schema Admins group

5) That remote access to the registry has not been restricted per mskb 153183

I've verified each of those.

From the Unity box, I get these errors sequentially:

Setup failed to open the Service Control Manager. Reason: The RPC Server is unavailable.

Setup failed to find the RemoteRegistry service. Reason: The handle is invalid.

Setup failed to query RemoteRegistry service. Reason: The handle is invalid.

Setup determined the following required service is not running on the Schema Master: RemoteRegistry. The RemoteRegistry service must be running to complete setup.

I've verified that the service is running on both Unity and the schema master.

Additional info: I was able to successfully extend the schema for CallManager 4.1(3).

Please advise.

Thanks,

Vance

Verify that DNS is correct on the Unity server and also DNS in the AD domain is functioning properly.

Oops, sorry. This was a stupid self inflicted wound. This was a new domain and the customer hasn't installed Exchange yet or run domain and forest prep.

FYI, the ldif logs on the desktop had a very good error message that pinpointed the problem.
