Hi, just wanted some advice from anyone that has made the jump. I'm upgrading from 4.2 to 5.x in 3 weeks. I have a new Unity server coming in and will be trashing my failover server as it is old. I will need to switch the roles of the server after I get them up and running, but has anyone that has done this upgrade ran into any pitfalls? I'm going to try and ghost my primary unity server then do an inplace upgrade of the OS to 2003 then Unity to 5.
I would simply break your failover, install the new server as Windows 2003, install Unity 4.2, then do a DIRT back and DIRT restore. Or even you could use COBRAS tool, but it's not TAC supported yet. I would stay away from in place OS upgrades if can. Start clean with the OS, Unity 4.2 install. Once its all running on the server, simply upgrade to 5.x inplace. Works like a champ.
