Is it possible to reset all advanced settings parameters (in Tools Depot) to its defaults ? I know i may be able to backup the registry before modifying it and restore from it. Is there an alternative route ?
No, there's no built in "reset to defaults" for the Advanced Settings Tool - it's a little trickier than it sounds since the out of box defaults for new installs have changed for many settings across Unity versions (they're preserved on upgrades, however).
