Unity: How to do forward a message automatically ?

Hi,

We are in the process of rolling out Unity voicemail only (on Exchange) to our employees.

In our old voice mail system, there is a feature that lets you to forward the message for a particular user automatically to the voicemail of another user.

We were using this feature for our manager/secretary deployments.

Users reaching the manager's voicemail will hear the greeting of the manager and will leave the message. The message will be forwarded to secretary's voicemail automatically. Since it is a new message in the secretaries voicemail, her MWI light will be lit automatically.

Secretarty need NOT know manager's voicemail pin to check his voicemails.

Sometimes, a secretary manages the voicemail of 3 or 4 managers.

Automatically forwarding the voicemail of managers to their secretaries makes the secretaries life very easy. They need not remember the PIN of 3 or 4 managers.

Can you please help us to incorporate this feature (forwarding a message automatically) in Unity.

Many Thanks.

No, that sounds about right. Due to the way it's set up, Unity will play both greetings unfortunately.

There is other ways of doing it but this one is the only one that matches your specifications exactly.

You could set up MWI notification on his subscriber account to notify her (remove his notification). She would then get a notification when a message is left and could pick the messages up (providing she has the password etc.)...

..or you could set up a call handler that has a blank greeting. Forward the subscriber to the call handler (like you have already). Make the message recipient on the call handler as the receptionists account?

Hi,

This is pretty easy to do in Unity. Just configure the standard greeting on the managers subscriber account to forward onto the PA's subscriber account after the message is played.

This way his greeting will be played but she will get the voicemail (see attached).

More info can be found here:

Hi Tim,

Thanks a lot for your input. And special thanks for sending the snapshot. It makes things very easy.

I tried it immediately.

I configured the manager's after greeting action to "Send caller to subcriber" (Attempt transfer for Secretary.

This way, when users reach Manager's mailbox, they hear manager's greeting followed by secretary's greeting and the message lands in the secretary's voice mail.

Is there any way, users just hear the manager's greeting alone?

Am I missing something?

Many Thanks.

Hi Tim,

The call handler idea worked like a charm :-) :-) :-) !!!

Brilliant solution!!!

The manager's after greeting action goes to a callhandler. The callhandler has a blank greeting and the message receipt is the secretary.

Hearty Thanks again!!!

Cheers

No problem, thanks for the ratings!
