Unity IP Fax - Why simple, small and low-traffic enviroments ?

Hi

In the help file for Unity IP Fax Wizard I see the following:

"The Cisco Unity IP Fax tool is intended for simple, small, low-traffic fax environments. It does not compete with or replace full-featured, dedicated fax servers."

Could anyone please explain why this solution is not the way to go for larger installations and maybe give me some ballpark figures on "faxs per minute" etc.

Thank you :)

Best regards

Re: Unity IP Fax - Why simple, small and low-traffic enviroments

Since the rendering of all documnets for all types happens on the Unity server itself, this is a big concern for higher traffic installs. Putting applications that can print such documents to TIF is also not supported at this point (i.e. putting power point on the Unity server is not supported).

We don't charge for the fax functionality - it's intended, as the help files say, for very small installs and light usage. If you have a heavy fax application you'll want to look for a dedicated fax server that can handle it.
