Unity Mailbox Limits

Questions from our customer. I know a few that are configurable. If someone has a good link for a summary of defaults it would be appreciated. The server is a 7845HP. Unity 4.2(1).

Total number of messages allowed?

Total number of minutes storage allowed?

Maximum length of a message?

# days saved messages are kept?

# days unheard messages are kept?

Max personal greeting length?

Hi -

You did not state whether this is a unified messaging or voicemail only implementation -

If unified messaging, the messages are stored in your Exchange server's information store. Here is a good link -

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/products/sw/voicesw/ps2237/products_white_paper09186a00800faf0f.shtml

Here is the platform list - http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/products/ps6509/products_data_sheet0900aecd80372879.html

Your 7845HP is a platform 3 - that will document the message storage for onbox Exchange (voicemail only).

The default greeting length is 5 minutes (300 seconds), but we limit ours to 3 minutes and configure via subscriber templates. The number of days messages are kept is not part of Unity, this is determined by Exchange and the user's Outlook configuration (unified messaging). If you are doing a voicemail only config, there are utilities you can run, like Message Store Manager, to administer your onbox Exchange environment. Here is a link for that - http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/products/sw/voicesw/ps2237/products_maintenance_guide_chapter09186a0080443807.html

This maintenance guide is current, just an addendum for 4.2 - http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/products/sw/voicesw/ps2237/products_administration_guide_chapter09186a008061c380.html
