Hi,

we have a customer migrating from Avaya UM to Unity UM. They wish to do some testing with Unity before the cutover to Unity. They have concerns about the two systems working alongside eachother - particularly on the client side, i.e VMO. Does anyone have any experiences they can share of any issues ?

Hi -

When we migrated from Avaya to Unity UM, our PC clients were running Outlook 2000 or 98, Windows 2000 primarily and we were running Exchange 5.5 so there were no schema updates for Avaya at the time (they were stored in custom properties 12 and 14 I think, in Exchange raw data mode). We ran both clients on several PCs for testing and never had any conflicts. Each client uses its own Outlook form, which resides in the Personal Forms Library of the user. Each client uses its own registry keys/fields and although both use some Windows system files, we did not experience any problems. We were fortunate to make the switch to Cisco concurrent with our Exchange 2000 migration :-)

Regards, Ginger

Ginger,

thanks very much for your response.
