Unity upgrade, adding a failover server and hardware migration

Looking into upgrading unity’s ver 4.03 unified messaging with no failover to 4.05 and migrating the server from 7835 to 7845 as well as adding a failover server.

I know that I need to upgrade the current server to the 4.05 and back up its database then build the new server with 4.05 then restore the backup.

I need to know if there is any gotchas in doing this upgrade/migration

Thanks,

Imad

I would backup the 4.0(3) before you upgrade to 4.0(5), and make sure both 403 & 405 backups are good. You are going to need a lot of time to do this and more so if you have many subscribers.

The message store is exchange 2000 and the OS is windows 2000. Do I need to re run the permission wizard on the new server.

Yes, you will need to assign permissions for the existing domain accounts for the new server's local groups.
