Unity upgrade question

I have a client running unity 4.0.3 unified messaging who wants to upgrade to 4.0.5. Do I still need to do the AD upgrade and the permissions wizard, or just run the install? I wasn't sure since it's not a very big change in versions. I appreciate any information.

Thanks,

Robert

Re: Unity upgrade question

Hi Robert -

If you already did the AD schema updates for 4.0(3), you don't need to do these again for Unity upgrade to 4.0(5). There were schema changes for the Unity Bridge 3.0 (networking to Octel servers) which were included in Unity 4.0(3) if you configured the bridge. In 4.0(5), SMTP networking was changed to VPIM networking, which required schema changes - http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/products/sw/voicesw/ps2237/products_feature_guide_chapter09186a0080449a8a.html.

But if you don't have the bridge or use SMTP networking between Unity servers, then don't worry. I would, however, always run the most current version of the Permissions wizard on CD1 as part of the upgrade process, including DbWalker, DiRT, all as recommended in the upgrade section of the Unity Reconfiguration Guide - http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/products/sw/voicesw/ps2237/products_upgrade_guides_chapter09186a0080205abd.html

Look at the section titled "Downloading Software (Cisco Unity 4.0(3) and Later Without Failover)", unless of course you have a failover system.
