Unity VM re-installation with new computer name and name subscriber name

Hi all,

Due to some reasons, my VM Unity will join the existing MS domain with different name computer name from the standalone domain. Since the existing subscriber account name may be conflict with the existing AD account name (e.g. john), I will create another a/c (e.g. vm-john) after joining the domain.

Under this situation, can I still maintain the customer mailbox's message and his password as well as the greeting?

As I known, the default backup and restore does not work since my server's name is changed at this time.

thanks for your help & advice!

Sam

You can use DiRT to help you backup and restore the Unity server. DiRT can handle machine name changes (as well as password, messages, greetings, etc) and it now supports subscriber alias remapping. You can read more in the help file under "Remapping Subscriber Alias Strings During Restore":

http://www.ciscounitytools.com/HelpFiles/DiRT/index.html

As always make sure to download the latest version of DiRT from:

http://www.ciscounitytools.com/App_DisasterRecoveryTools.htm

Also make note that only Exchange 2000 is supported with VM only, even if you are using the customers existing Exchange server. Nether Exchange 5.5 or 2003 are supported with VM only.

Thanks,

Keith
