Unity VM vs UM

Hello,

We are installing a Unity 5.0 server for a client and finished the CUSPA portion of the install earlier today. At the start of CUSPA process, we checked the Voice Messaging option (no failover and 32 ports) and have stopped the install at this point. There is a chance we have to now change this server to Unified Messaging since the licenses purchased supports either configuration (as far as we can tell). Assuming this is the case, do we need to run CUSPA again and change that setting to "Unified Messaging" instead, or can we proceed with the install and do what normally would be done on a UM install from this point on?

Is that setting important enough that it should be changed to the proper value?. If so, how do we re-run CUSPA and just change that setting without re-installing the server from scratch.

Selecting either UM or VM at this point will not impact the functionality of the Unity server. If you select VM and are going to use Unity for UM as well, you don't need to worry about changing this value.

Thanks for the infomration. Good to know that we don't have to re-run CUSPA or do a fresh install of the server just to change that setting.

We have now found out customer wants to do UM with their new Exchange 2007 servers, so obviously we can't go with Unity 5. They are working on getting the software/licensing for Unity 7. Do you know if the underlying OS (built using platform configuation disks) will be the same regardless if we install Unity 7, or will it require a complete fresh install? I have not installed Unity 7 yet.

Just an advice:

If the above is in regards to Unity 5/Exchange 2007 compatibility you can do it, Unity 5.X and above provide support for Exchange 2007.

4.X versions are the ones that do not support Exchange 2007.

For Unity it's easier to read the System requirements docs, they have all that info

If you already have the Unity 5.x install discs you can go ahead and install the system, if they have already ordered 7.x they can take advantage of this, and install the latest release of Unity.

For that you can read the RN and see if there is something included in 7.X they might use or have interest in deploying.
