Unity with Remote Exchange

Hi, I have a customer that has a location in New York running 2.x Unity, they would like to consolidate their Exchange servers to San Francisco and are currently running on a 256k frame relay circuit. Can they do this? They are in the process of upgrading Exchange to 2003 and Unity to 4.0.3? Will this still work with Exchange and AD being remote to the Unity server? They also have a Unity server in San Francisco. Any information would be appreciated.

No it would not be a supported design and they would most definitely encounter significant performance issues.

The only supported design is the have Unity service only mailboxes on Exchange server(s) within the same physical site or LAN.
