Hi, My query is as follows.

The customer is having a valied Essential Operate Service Agreement for Unified communications. He is having CUCM 6.0 and now he wants to upgrade it to CUCM 6.1. Normally, the part number for the upgradation is CM6.0-6.1-U-K9=.

As he is having Essential Operate Service Agreement, do he need to purchase the license or not?

please provide some reference docs regarding the same.

Hi Jag,

You customer would be covered for an upgrade like this within the same Release Train (6.x)as this would be considered a Minor Release Upgrade. They would not be covered for something like 6.x to 7.x.

From the doc you linked;

The Cisco Essential Operate Service includes capabilities similar to the Software Application Support (SAS) offering. If your contract includes hardware, it might also include capabilities similar to those of Cisco SMARTnet®.

Cisco Unified Communications software-only application support includes:

● Full-time telephone and remote technical and maintenance support services

● Maintenance and minor release updates

Here are the comparison docs for Cisco Unified Communications Software Subscription;

The Cisco Unified Communications Software Subscription applies only to upgrades for major releases (providing major architectural changes or feature enhancements or functions). Minor upgrades and maintenance release upgrades are part of Cisco Unified Communications Essential Operate Service and Select Operate Service.

Cisco Unified Communications Software Subscription applies to upgrades for major releases only. (A major release refers to a release of software that provides major architectural changes or major feature enhancements or functions.) Minor and maintenance release updates are a part of Cisco Unified Communications Essential Operate Services and Cisco Unified Communications Select Operate Services. (A minor release refers to an incremental release of software that provides bug fixes and minor feature enhancements. A maintenance release refers to an incremental release of software that provides maintenance fixes.)
