upgrade from 4.2.1 to 6.1.2

I have to upgrade the current call manager 4.2.1 to the new communication manager 6.1 ...

I have got a new server HP DL380 and wonder what kind of license do I need for the upgrade...

and whats the best way to migrate all the data from existing server to the new server ? Do I do a fresh install for the 6.1.2 and then use DMA?

Rachel,

First you will need to upgrade 4.2.1 to 4.2.3 and then perform a DMA backup. During the installation of CM 6.1 you will specify the location of your DMA backup and restore it. The upgrade will take care of your DLU and node licenses as it will auto-generate temp licenses for you, all you will need to get is a CM 6.1 feature license. You can contact Cisco TAC to obtain it for which you will need the active smartnet contract.
