Re: VG224 dial tone stops working

Just check the status of the ses debugs:show voice call sum and show voice port sum. You can upgrade the software in vg224.

Re: VG224 dial tone stops working

No I did not. I am still experiencing the problem. Only way to fix is to reboot. My customers are not happy.

Re: VG224 dial tone stops working

I have a TAC case and they said that it is may be a hardware problem.

Did you change the hardware?

What version of IOS? I have 12.4.19.

We are about to go in service by Monday so I will face unhappy customer as well.

Thanks and regards

Re: VG224 dial tone stops working

No I did ot change out the hardware. I have two VG224's and tried the connection on both with the same result.

We are currently running (vg224-I6S-M), Version 12.4(12). I cannot upgrade because when I do, everything connected to the switch will not work. The devices hear a low hum that eventually gets louder.

Re: VG224 dial tone stops working

Hi Neil,

If the "low hum that eventually gets louder" you hear is in the 50-60Hz range, you may have a "ground loop" issue -- that is, your fax machine is grounded at a different point in your electrical system than your voice gateways.

To isolate your issue, can you take a fax machine to the same room the voice gateway is physically located in? If the fax is connected to the same ground that the VG is, and the hum disappears, that may be your culprit.

Alternatively, you may be encountering electromagnetic interference (EMI) on the cable connecting your gateways to your fax machines. Make sure that there aren't any ballasts (noisy ballasts are common in older fluorescent lights) in close proximity to the wire (or any other electrical equipment that could cause interference for that matter).

If EMI is the culprit it's harder to diagnose. You might need to move your fax machines to a different drop point to eliminate the issue.

Hope that helps!

-James.

Re: VG224 dial tone stops working

Anyway to enter the vg224 into a debug mode on a single port so that I could tell what is going on?

Re: VG224 dial tone stops working

Experienced recently the same issue.

What i did:

-> ios upgrade to latest version, reconfigure everything (gw and ccm), reboot, reset gw, and the problem still revealed, some analog phones worked, some not.

What aparently resolved:

------------------------

-> vg224 was connected to UPS. After connecting directly to public power the issue STOPED. Reconnected to UPS and its working.

What do you have to say? I dont have words.

Thanks,

Met.

Re: VG224 dial tone stops working

Hello,

Which problem did you fix by unplugging the

UPS (hum or dial-tone)?

I am having the Dial-tone problem.

Thanks and regards

Re: VG224 dial tone stops working

dial-tone, my only problem.

Regards.

Re: VG224 dial tone stops working

Is there any way to set the vg224 to debug mode on a port? There are many options but I am unsure which to use.

Maybe send the output to a syslogbox
