VPIM Question

I'm after some clarity on whether it is possible to use VPIM to network 2 Unity VM only servers together.

In the Cisco Unity Networking Options Requirments document it states the following as supported interoperability:

VPIM Networking can be used to provide voice-mail message networking between the following types of voice messaging systems:

?Cisco Unity with Exchange and Cisco Unity with Domino

?Cisco Unity with Domino 4.0(5) and later and Cisco Unity Express 2.1(2) and later

?Cisco Unity with Exchange 4.0(4) and later and Cisco Unity Express 2.1(1) and later

?Cisco Unity and third-party voice messaging systems that support the Voice Profile for Internet Mail (VPIM) version 2 protocol

Also in the Networking in Unity Guide, it is recommended that the voice connector is not installed on the Unity server.

Can anyone clarify if VPIM is supported in this scenario or if in fact it can be done at all?

Re: VPIM Question

Sure - there's no restriction on VPIM not working with two Unity VM servers. It's not as robust as having them in the same directory and using digital networking, of course, but if that's not a valid option for you VPIM is fine.

Re: VPIM Question

Thanks for the reply. Is it possible to have 2 VM only unity servers using the same AD and Exchange message store ie with Exchange on only one of them? If so it's not too late for me to rebuild the second server as it's not live yet, they then would be able to use the same directory. Would this be a supported configuration?
