Cannot ping my laptop from the blades within the UCS chassis

All -

Am building a lab setup now that we have our Vblocks up.  We need to be able to ping back to the laptop that is in the same network and something is stopping us.  We have done the following - opened up a case with Cisco - a case with Vmware - we cannot get the network (although it is completely flat) to allow port 902 through to the laptop.  I can ping between the blades via the ESXi local prompts.  We are booting from the san, there is NO vlan as this is just a lab and the network has only the devices for this lab.  A 5020, 9124, Nexsan, 6120, 5108 and 8 blades with ESXi 4.1 installed on 6 of them.

I can ping the 5020 and all the other servers - but not back to my laptop so therefore cannot get to the esxi via the vi client to build the vms I need nor to update the firmware.

Ideas?

Linda

Linda,

1. Can you provide a network topology?

2. Where is your laptop connected, to the 5020 via a 1Gb RJ45 SFP? If so, have you set the speed of the port to 1Gbps??

3. You said everything in the lab network is flat, does this mean you're using just VLAN 1?

This is likely just a Layer 2 config between your laptop and Nexus.

Regards,

Robert
