CIMC Access After Integrating C Series with UCS Manager

My question relates to the following language:

This guide contains information and procedures for installing Cisco UCS C200, C210 and C250 servers for integration with Cisco UCS Manager release 1.4 or 2.0.1.

Cisco UCS C-Series Rack-Mount Servers are managed by the built-in standalone software, Cisco Integrated Management Controller (CIMC) . When a C-Series Rack-Mount Serveris integrated with Cisco UCS Manager, the CIMC does not manage the server anymore. Instead it is managed with the Cisco UCS Manager software. You will manage the server using the Cisco UCS Manager GUI or Cisco UCS Manager CLI.

Does this mean that you literally are unable to web to the CIMC GUI?  Or does it mean that although you can still access the CIMC, the management of the C Series is recommended to be performed via the UCS Manager?

Are they mutually exclusive?

Thanks,

Amir

That is correct , all functionality is moved to Service Profiles on UCSM and nothing can be done from CIMC.

CIMC will report "managed by UCSM" or something like that.

Just saw this:

  • These UCSM mode settings enable DHCP, Active-Active NIC redundancy, and Shared LOM NIC mode, which enables CIMC control through the 1-Gb LOM ports, rather than the management port. Any static IP addresses and the management port are disabled, so you lose connection with the CIMC.

So it appears that they are mutually exclusive.
